7/ In Egypt the bride’s finger is pinched to bring her luck in her life of potential domestic abuse

According to this tradition, pinching the finger of the bride before going she gets married will protect her against getting beaten by her husband and will accept any strikes without pain.  It’s an outrage!

In certain regions in India, brides choose a good husband by hitting them on the head with the help of a stick.  The one that resists the beating is the best one!  Quite a violent tradition, wouldn’t you say?

9/ In Vanuatu people bungee jump from an enormous tree trunk during ceremonies

After coating their body with coconut oil, men from the Vanuatu archipelago jump bungee jump from a strange platform made of tree trunks and and creeping vines.  Why do these men participate in this type of adrenaline sport?   They do it to honour various and diverse ceremonies.  If no man is hurt then they will have a plentiful harvest.

10/ In India they don’t use toilet paper

If you go looking for toilet paper in India you will struggle to find it! Unlike our sterilised lifestyle, Indians don’t often use toilet paper. However it seems that they do not need to use it as they relieve themselves in the best possible position.  When they have a pressing need to relive themselves they go to the toilet more naturally with no sit-down toilet. Instead it is a simple hole in the floor or a bucket and water!
