Online business has become a reality for many home-based ambitious entrepreneurs. Indeed, on the internet, it has become possible to earn money through drop shipping, affiliate marketing), making videos with ad revenue and so on. Thus, this is something people either start on the side or do as their job whenever it becomes possible. Indeed, everyone can make the leap into entrepreneurship with ambition, hard work, a laptop and the right idea. Looking for ideas to start your own online business without necessarily quitting your day job? Here is a collection of easy ideas!

1) Launch your drop-shipping store

Drop-shipping offers several advantages, the main one being that you don’t need a physical warehouse to start. You just create a e-commerce website and purchase the item from a third party that has it shipped directly to the customer. The supplier basically handles the whole process. It means that you don’t actually need to buy a lot of products from a manufacturer risking to find out afterwards that there is no market for them. This solution is great if you are on a budget. In addition, it doesn’t really require particular skills and you won’t struggle with the inventory. You can run your online business everywhere and you are free to decide when you want to work.

2) An online store to sell your own creations

There is a market for plenty of creations! If you are crafty, you can definitely monetize your handmade beauty products, furniture, jewelry or clothing. Artists could also have their own platform to showcase their art and sell it. Whether you are a musician, painter or photographer, you can turn your art and passion into a source of income. And if if works, you might be able to do what you love for a living. Writers can also sell their own ebooks through a download link. Many platforms allow you to start selling your homemade goods and your creations (Etsy, Craigslist…). However, you could also create a website and establish pricing strategies with Shopify. It gives you more control and makes it easier to track and fulfill orders.

3) You could also teach an online course

Internet is known to be an endless source of knowledge. If you are particularly skilled or knowledgeable about a topic, chances are it will be useful to someone willing to learn about it. It could be anything from music production to web development, building apps or marketing. Of course, it takes some work to enroll people in your course and create quality content to teach people how to do something from scratch. Most of the time, it will require several videos (filming and editing included) or thorough articles, meaning more work on your hands. However, if you manage to share it, it can quickly become a source of regular income. Moreover, helping people is extremely rewarding.

4) Start a blog

Blogs shifted from virtual journals to real marketing tools where monetization has become a common practice. Indeed, promoting products, sharing sponsored posts or hosting third-party ads are now frequent although it does require to gain an audience beforehand. Thus, you will have to be motivated in order to offer quality content and build an engaged audience. This is definitely a long-term work and monetization is the fruit of long labours. To put it simply: you won’t see the result right off the bat. However, once you have your audience, it will provide you with regular income. Having a gift for writing and being regular is also essential.

5) Launch a podcast or become an influencer

If having a blog is not you cup of tea, you could also launch a podcast. It is similar to starting a blog but you’ll need a high-quality microphone and an audio recording software. And why not inviting guests or solicit sponsors and advertisers to make unbelievable connections? This is indeed how you will manage to build your own online business from scratch. Finally, if you are comfortable with the social media and enjoy sharing your own quality photos and videos, becoming an influencer could be a possibility. Because of dishonest practices (buying followers and so on), sponsors are now more interested on smaller influencers with an engaged following. Thus, you won’t need millions of followers to earn some money!

No matter what type of website and activity you choose, you can pretty much always rely on affiliate marketing to make an additional income. How does it work? You recommend a product or a service to your audience. Then, you make sales commissions by driving traffic to e-commerce sites through affiliate links or referral codes in your blog posts, emails or other channels.

Buying a property is not a decision that you take lightly, even if today it is relatively easy to be granted a mortgage.  However buying is a particularly big step for first time buyers. Without any experience of investing beforehand, it is easy to launch yourself into a precarious situation. However you can avoid some of these critical situations with a few pieces of practical advice.  Remember to ask yourself the right questions.

A first time buy involves asking yourself some important questions.  It is not because you saw your perfect home or house that you throw your whole body and soul into quickly skipping over the steps and the papers. Here are 10 pieces of professional advice to be successful with your first investment and have a stress free (at least almost) buying experience.

1/ How long do your see yourself in this new house?

Would it be possible to rent out your flat or house and reap the benefits if you had to leave your new house or flat sooner that previously imagined?  A piece of professional advice is never buy a house if your think that you will stay there less than six years (this duration can vary depending on different towns and property prices).

2/ Could you easily resell your new house?

This is again another difficult question to ask yourself but it is one you shouldn’t forget about.   If, for whatever unfortunate reason, you need to move earlier than previously expected will the property be easy to resell in a short time frame? Pay close attention to the geographical location of your property and the property market in the area.

3/ Do you feel comfortable in the area where you have found your perfect house?

It is easy to fall for a house that has been renovated with taste, a flat with a rooftop or an artist’s loft which has been carefully decorated.  However if the area of the house doesn’t suit you then you should watch out.  Remember that you can always change the decorations, architecture or facade of a house or a flat but you can’t do anything about changing the location.

4/ Should you choose a flat or a house?

Although this personal choice initially appears to be unimportant aspect it is not necessarily the case.  Depending on your budget you can choose between the two. However you should watch out and remember to ask yourself some questions.  Sometimes a bright and spacious apartment with all the space you need is better than a small house surrounded by other houses beside a motorway.  Yes we know that you have always wanted a house of your own…

5/ Can you make some concessions on certain aspects of the property if you can’t find your ideal home?

You are unlikely to find a property that ticks all the boxes and remember to keep this in mind before setting out on your visits.  All first time buyers have the house of their dreams in their mind which includes are garage, garden, big kitchen, ensuite… If you are really lucky or someone who is easily pleased you can land yourself a great property quickly.  Otherwise you need to make some concessions if you can’t find what you are looking for exactly.  Make choices depending on what is the most important to you, whether it is an ensuite bathroom or a luscious garden.

Social media can hide some surprises behind their facade which are not necessarily good.  If only you knew everything before making an account…

Social networks can hide lots of things from it’s users.  Today we have a lot to chose from whether it is Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter or Facebook, they all have secrets they’d rather hide and prefer not to share.  Facebook is a social network that is difficult to do without in your day to day life.  Even after having reading what we’re about to tell you, we’re sure you won’t be able to stop!  It would seem that we have become virtual junkies and when we don’t get enough likes in the day you can feel downhearted… Facebook and other social medias can be a real addiction.

1/ Facebook is able to recognise your face out of a thousand

Often you are not given a chance to agree to photos that your drinking friends love to tag you in timeline like there is no tomorrow.  Because you appear in the albums of other users, Facebook is now perfectly capable of recognising your face with it’s face recognition algorithm that is hardly ever wrong.

2/ Your messages are saved even if you’ve deleted them

Don’t think that you adulterous conversation will disappear officially from the network just because you had the good idea to delete them.  Are you serious? Facebook is always happy to keep them safe for you… Texts that you send via messenger (even ones that you don’t send)  are kept by the blue giant although they don’t tell you they are.  It’s just their little secret…

3/ Facebook knows when you are sleeping

If you haven’t deactivated the Messenger function (let’s be honest, nobody does) which allows your friends to know when you are online so that you can chat, Facebook can also tell when you are not active.  Logically, when you sleep you don’t use the social network. If you try to deceive Facebook it will always have the upper hand as it even knows the time zone of where you are based….

4/ Facebook knows your political views

Just like a virtual Big Brother, Facebook can read your personal characteristics.  It’s algorithm is capable of analysing the articles that you read, the groups you follow and the topics of conversations you have to find out what side of the political spectrum you side with.  You can’t keep it a secret from anyone in the end!

5/ There is a option to designate a manager of your account after you’re dead.

Pretty scary that you can have a virtual obituary .

Whether it’s you who wants to spread your wings, or your boss who wants to put an end to your professional relationship, there are ways and means of doing these things. A dismissal is a big deal for an employee, and an explanation is required. If at times the employee’s professional competency plays a part, it can often be the case that it is the company that isn’t doing well, and it is important to explain the reasons. Here are 10 sadistic bosses, who couldn’t be bothered making an effort.

1/ A boss who took advantage of a fire drill to fire half of his employees

Incredible but true: a company in Singapore started with an evacuation drill and followed it by announcing on a loud speaker that, following poor financial results, some employees could come back, while others could not. This was supposedly to prevent riots in the building.

2/ A boss who managed to organise a spontaneous strike to fire all his employees

The employees of an American company had organised a strike, to protest against their working conditions. The boss took his opportunity to respond to them, over the megaphone, that everyone who had participated was being shown the door. But the story had actually started much earlier and a note was found in HR a few weeks later: they had been instructed to recruit and train new employees and to inform the unions of this, in order to provoke a strike, during which they could fire the current employees and replace them. Manipulation taken to new levels. Fortunately, the boss was made accountable for this and did not escape justice.

3/ A boss who sent a letter to his employees, telling them that there was no point in turning up for work the next day

Employees in a French factory received a letter with the boss’s thanks and well wishes for the future, as the factory site was imminently due to close. Something that no one had been aware of up to that moment. A nasty surprise.

4/ A boss who fired several employees using physical force

The managers of this company were told to go and look for workers at their desks and physically remove them, catching them by the arm, without even knowing what fault the workers had committed. And even more bizarrely, they gave them sweets as a pitiful or perhaps derisory compensation.

5/ A boss who fired his employees by text

The boss of an American company unscrupulously sent a simple text announcing to one of his employees that he was fired. They don’t beat around the bush when it comes to job losses in the United States! Fortunately, the employee won his case against the company afterwards.

Involuntarily rude logos

As simple as they may be, business logos are not always easy to interpret and design companies take a long time developing and designing a logo branding that is comprehensible to everyone. Sometimes, the designers can get it very wrong and it is not until it is up or printed on a letterhead that they realise it. Here are 15 logos which are complete fails, sexist or vulgar and shockingly where used by companies.

1/ Clinica Dental

A Spanish dentist using a racy human position

3/ Maoam

These sweets are aimed for kids yet their fruit characters are a little “risque”!

4/ China Restaurant

A Chinese restaurant had good intentions with their logo, but you don’t need to be that way inclined to no notice the naughty side of the branding!

The American president Donald Trump is a colourful character, no one can deny it. A wealthy businessman, a reality TV star… here are 15 things you do not know about the American president!

1/ He has already been the president on the Simpsons

The Simpsons already predicted the future during an episode in season 11 (year 2000) called Bart to the Future, when Donald Trump was president.

2/ He doesn’t drink or smoke

According to him, the president does not drink or smoke cigarettes. It was the death of his older brother in 1981, from alcoholism, that determined it.

3/ His grandfather was an immigrant

Donald Trump’s speeches are negative towards Mexican or Syrian immigrants. His grandfather is a German immigrant, arrived in the United States in 1885, whose name was Friedrich Drumpf who was anglicised as Frederick Trump.

4/ He has his own products

The American president has launched two perfumes in his name (Empire and Success), as well as vodka, tea, ties and mattresses.

5/ He has spoken about incest.

Trump is far from biting his tongue and it often happens that his remarks are … derogatory. His words are even incestuous in 2006 when he said “If Ivanka was not my daughter, I could go out with her” …

There is no silly business…

All work merits a salary and more certain than others. It is all very well to say that working at Mac Donald’s or being a cashier in a supermarket means having missed your opportunity in life, and you can imagine that there are jobs that are far more ungrateful. Here is a brief overview.

1/ Armpit smeller

Did you know that this bizarre job of sniffing the armpits of perfect strangers is to test the effectiveness of a deodorant? Odd for a job, but for £4000 per month (a sniffer could win up to £60 000  per year), so it is actually a good job earner

2/ Loo tester

Often voted the worst profession in the world, the toilet tester does not have to have a big bladder! As its name indicates, the role is to test the proper functioning of the toilets. To do this, you drop false droppings to fill the bowl and make sure nothing is clogged. Nice!

3/ Clean road kill

Animals killed on the motorway, don’t disappear on their own, there has to be someone who goes and picks them up.

4/ Cat food tester

Obviously you can not expect a cat to test their future food! The tester for cats must ensure its freshness, texture and smell…
