It is not only humans that can act heroically. But when it comes to animals, we hear about it somewhat less often. However, there are certain dogs who didn’t hesitate to put themselves in danger to protect their owners, whether they were young children, elderly people, or simply people in very dangerous situations. Because dogs have a different approach to danger than we do, and are often ready to do what it takes to come to our rescue, regardless of the danger to themselves. 1/ Layka, a military dog decorated for his bravery
This magnificent copper coloured Malinois served in Afghanistan in an exemplary fashion: despite being wounded four times by bullets, this courageous dog launched himself at the enemy to protect his team, which led to him losing a paw. This heroic act earned him a military medal and a well earned retirement.
2/ Geo, a dog who saved a baby from a road accident
Geo saved little Charlie, 8 months, from a potentially fatal road accident: by putting himself in the middle of the road between the child and a truck, the dog pushed the baby on to the footpath, to make sure the baby wouldn’t be run over, but being hit in the child’s place. The dog suffered some injuries, but should recover.
3/ Molly, the dog who saved the lives of 7 people, 2 dogs and 4 cats in a fire

Abbie is a superhero dog, who saved the family baby, Benjamin, who was choking in his cot, by alerting the child’s mother.

This dog’s owner didn’t understand his repetitive barking towards the door of the apartment. He later realised that there was in fact a gas leak, and that the dog was trying to get him to leave the apartment, to keep him safe. Dogs’ instincts don’t lie.
