You surely know how to charge your smartphone faster by simply putting it on airplane mode, or how to prevent your pots from boiling over by putting a wooden spoon across the top of them. But did you know how to find a lost dog every time? Or how to move house without buying cardboard boxes or packing each of your clothes one by one? Here are a few practical life hacks that you can try out to make your life easier. We never would have thought of them!

2/ Find a lost dog with just an item of clothing
Take an item of clothing that you wore for at least a day (the longer the better), so that your dog recognises your scent. Put the garment where you saw the dog last. If your dog has a favourite toy, you can also put this in the area (making sure to alert passers by, of course!). Leave out a bowl of water, but not food. Return the next day or check regularly. With a little luck, your dog will be there waiting!
3/ Raise your PC on an egg carton to stop it from overheating
To raise your PC with what you have to hand, you will surely find a books or some other support. That said, these are generally solid and don’t solve the ventilation problem, so your PC is sure to overheat quickly. Remedy the situation with a simple egg carton.
4/ Never again drop your book in the bath, thanks to a dog leash!
With the retractable leash you borrowed from your canine companion, you need never again drop your favourite novels in the bath tub! Genius.
5/ Open a drawer and place a chopping board on it to create more work space
Is your work surface already too crowded? Pull open a drawer and pop your chopping board over it. Clever, huh?
6/ Water your plants with makeshift droppers while you are on holidays.
With an upside down wine bottle, planting the neck of the bottle in the soil, you will be able to water your plants for at least five days. Practical and easy!
7/ Move all your clothes in one fell swoop
No need to waste time folding your clothes one by one and putting them in boxes. Go for this method instead, packing them in bundles still on their hangers. It is also a way to avoid creasing them during the move.
