Do you know these 14 countries with a female president?

Even if the majority of the world’s countries still have a long way to go in terms of equality in politics, there are several countries who are not afraid to entrust their government to women. Be they rich or developing countries, having a woman as the head of state has nothing to do with money! Nepal, Chile, Norway or Germany -women as heads of state are becoming more and more common. We hope that other countries will be inspired. Here is a little tour of the horizon, with 14 current female presidents.

1/ Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, president of Croatia

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović became the president of Croatia on the 18th February 2015. A member of the democratic union of Croatia (HDZ), her election caused surprised.

2/ Dalia Grybauskaitė, president of Lithuania

Dalia Grybauskaitė has been the president of the Rebublic since 12th July 2009. She ran as a centre-right independent candidate.

The first president of the Republic of Taïwan, Tsai Ing-wen decided to bring a breath of fresh air to her company, under the leadership of the Progressive Democrat Party.

The new face and leader of Nepal is a militant feminist who is a member of the Nepalese Communist Party, and was elected on the 29th October 2015.
