Mosquito bites: 15 weird tips for resisting the urge to scratch

During Summer, our skin really goes through the wars. Between getting burned from too much sun exposure, heat rash and mosquito bites, our skin feels itchy, scratchy, or it burns. And as for mosquito bites, it doesn’t get much worse…

Are mosquito bites your own personal pet hate? We can understand your dismay to find that an intrusive insect has speared its sting through your sleeping skin, to suck out your blood, vampire style. The next morning, it is difficult to resist the urge to scratch! However, it is very important not to do so, at least at first, and to discipline yourself not to scratch until you draw blood. After that, you have some natural tips to help you forget about the bites as the day goes on. Here they are…

1/ Apply a teabag

Infuse a teabag as you would to make your usual cuppa. Don’t leave a drop in the cup, we wouldn’t like to incite food waste! Treat the itching with the used teabag. Apply it luke-warm to any area of the skin that has been bitten.

2/ Rub the area with ice cubes

The cold is a soothing remedy par excellence. That said, it has the disadvantage of not lasting very long, and the operation needs to be frequently repeated. You can take a cold shower before going to bed to soothe itching. The bites won’t give you half as hard a time of it! PS: if you don’t have an ice cube tray, you can always replace it with a baking tray of water filled balloons!

3/ Apply some kiwi, cucumber or a banana skin

Have you just been bitten and have nothing to hand to soothe the area? Fruit could come to the rescue! Apply a slice of kiwi, cucumber or some banana skin (the inside layer) to the bite for around ten minutes, and notice the soothing effect.
