Every little helps when it comes to saving the planet. Whether your actions are big or small it doesn’t matter. Doing away with your car to recycling bags at the supermarket, stopping smoking to shopping in charity shops: small steps to save the planet really doesn’t take much. It is not difficult if everyone does a little to help!
Scientist research it, politicians debate it and the media publicises it: we all know if we continue at this speed we’ll lose the planet as we know it. However little is done to give us practical solutions to help alleviate climate change in our day to day life. Although we care about the environment, it is sometimes difficult to get around without a car. However there is a whole heap of solutions that you can start to use to make a small step towards saving the planet.
1/ Pee in the shower
Some of you will shake your heads while others will be all ears. This may be a controversial idea however peeing in the shower saves a hell of a lot of water. Your flush is the worst culprit for water waste. However it is true you can’t spend all day in the shower!
2/Car share to work or on long journeys
Travelling to work is much more fun when you have people to talk to. Whether you are going to work or on holiday, your journeys will be less expensive if you take others along for the ride. Whoever said that travelling by car wasn’t a form of public transport! Save the planet on the road and think about making the most of the places available in your car.
3/ Buy darker clothes for your children
4/ Drink tap water
Bottles of mineral water is just a ruse! Do you know where the plastic comes from? Stop buying bottled water and instead buy a filtered jug. Tap water will never taste so delicious!
5/ Wear second hand clothes
Forget about the prejudices of wearing second hand clothes. Vintage is on trend more than it ever was before! As well as giving you a personal style that no one can copy you are also limiting the production of new clothes which uses an enormous amount of water and pesticides.
6/ Dry your clothes in the sun
You surely know already that your dryer gobbles energy. If weather permits, hang your laundry outside. Not only is it a step to save the planet but your clothes will smell fresh and natural.
7/ Homemade meals
Home made meals are full of flavour without using a ton of chemical products. Not only do you use less packaging but it’ll be better for your purse strings. A win-win situation!
