15/ Listen
Listen to your family and friends without being distracted by passing thoughts. What they have to say is important and we should always be attentive. It is always nice to be listened to and especially nice when someone remembers something you have said.
16/ Live for the moment
Forget about what you are doing tomorrow or the blunder that you made yesterday. It is better to start afresh and move on. Show people who you really are and don’t put on a facade.
17/ Stop trying to interpret everything
Stop trying to see the bad when it is not there. Your neighbour didn’t say hello to you today? Maybe they were having a bad day and were a bit distracted. It’s not because you slammed your door too loudly when you left for work!
18/ Reconnect with nature and appreciate it’s benefits
Nature can get rid of stress and tension. Appreciate the trees, forest paths, the sea, the mountains while they are still there. Try and preserve their beauty so others can make the most of our natural landscape in the future.
19/ Give your time to others
As well as having a busy schedule, you are not going to die if you give up a few minutes of your time for others. On the contrary, you will gain in happiness. Take an abandoned dog for a walk, pick up litter in the station, visit a retirement home or donate your time to a community steering group. All these actions will help others while also helping yourself!
20/ Appreciate the world around you and all its inhabitants no matter how small!
Our planet is the only planet to our knowledge that habours life. However it is human nature to always want to see if the grass is greener on the other side. However we should stop and realise that miracles happen everyday under our very eyes. Appreciate the nature around you just as it is and pay attention to the little details, to the snails and the spiders weaving their webs. Appreciate the wind which rustles the leaves and the butterflies that flutter past us. Each day is unique. Living better starts by having a conscience.
