Constrained by a frantic professional and sometimes personal lifestyle, all of us look to find a better work/life balance. Here are some tips that we can use every day to help us find happiness.
If you want to live a better and happier life, it is important to listen to those around you, to be respectful of others, animals and our environment as well as to realise how fortunate we are to live on the planet. Living better is also learning to like little insignificant pleasures and to live in harmony with our surroundings.
1/ Remember that no day is ever the same
Everyday gives you new experiences and new things to learn. Observe all the gifts the world has to offer. Don’t be fatalist if something doesn’t go as planned. Always live as if it is you last day and appreciate the world around you!
2/ A smile goes a long way
What is more communicative than a smile? Remember to smile everyday, to yourself but also to people you don’t know in the street. These little exchanges can go a long way!
3/ Compliment those around you
Flatter people you don’t know if you really mean it. Are you crazy about a young students bike? Go on you can let them know! Did you love the milkshake you had at the coffee shop you tried for the first time? Tell to waitress what you thought. It’s well known that we often say what we don’t like and never mention things that are good.
4/ Say hello to people when out walking or running
Have you started a running regime every Saturday morning in a bid to have a flatter stomach? Greet the people that you meet. Say hello and you’ll see that they return the greeting. A little hello can warm the heart on a cold morning
5/ Eat when you are hungry and don’t follow society norms
The rule that we have to eat three times a day is just a ruse. Let your stomach guide you and eat only when you are hungry. Eating another meal when we still haven’t digested the one before isn’t very good for your health. Living better is also knowing how to listen to your body.
6/ Eat and go to bed earlier
You’ll have a better sleep if you have had time to digest your food. You’ll pay for it if your stomach is too full before going to bed. Going to bed earlier means that you are more rested and can wake up on better form. If you can, try going to sleep one night a week when the sun sets so that you can wake up at dawn. Electricity has taken over our natural rhythm.
7/ Spring clean your flat and give away things you don’t need
You can’t imagine how good it feels to clear. As the saying goes a clear space is a clear mind. Sort out your clutter and give anything you don’t need anymore to charity.
