6/ Cut off the power
It is better instead to unplug your large electronic devices, the TV antenna and the internet box. These devices can be exposed to strong overvoltages.

7/ Standing near the chimney
Avoid lighting fires in the middle of a storm, or your fears could multiply! Also try not to stay in contact with the fireplace.

8/ Take shelter in a phone box
Even if nowadays they are fairly rare, there are still a few old telephone boxes knocking around. And when a storm breaks out, you may head for the nearest shelter. Big mistake! If the phone lines are hit by lightning, a surge of power could spread towards your refuge…

9/ Stay near the windows
In the case of a violent storm, it is best to close the blinds and keep away from exposed windows.

10/ Stay under a single tree
Advice that you have always been given: never stay under an isolated tree during stormy weather.
