There are many daily actions that you might think are insignificant like sleeping in front of a mirror, having your breakfast is a cluttered kitchen or drinking iced water.   However you’d be wrong to think they are unimportant as they can affect your mental and physical well-being!

Do you struggle to get up before the sun is up and eat in a cluttered kitchen with dirty dishes piled up at the sink? These common and often seemingly trivial matters can in fact influence your state of mind, your mental health and even your physical well-being!  This is what Ayurveda, an ancient Indian medicine believes which has been backed up by several studies as well… Here are some ideas to follow so you can live more peacefully at home and abroad. Are you ready to get clearing?

1/ Remove any mirrors from your room so you can sleep better

In traditional Indian medicine, mirrors are associated with conflict.  Avoid sleeping in front of a mirror or cover it before going to bed if possible. Sometimes having a good mental health and a restful sleep is all in the details!

2/ Be careful what colours you choose for your room

White and other light, tonal colours are perfect for your bathroom and kitchen as they allow you to see the slightest bit of dirt so that you can clean it and get rid of the mess.  In your bedroom however, “earthy” colours are advisable like brown, black (complimented by white) or almond green.

3/ Eat your food in a clean and tidy kitchen

Nothing is worse for your mental health and your internal balance than a cluttered room.  Especially when you are sat down to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Try to keep you kitchen or dining room as clean and tidy as possible when you are preparing a meal.  Again here you should take the “less is more” attitude. Keep your kitchen minimalist and tidy away your electric appliances into your cupboards.  Sorry we know that you were wanting to show off your new bright red blender…

4/ Go to the toilet as soon as you get up (Gentlemen you should be seated as well!)

Emptying your bladder of urine is a sort of purification ritual that you should do every morning.  Before doing anything else you should head to the bathroom! Blowing your nose is also good for mucus! These areas of your body should not be obstructed if you want your body to function well. On the toilet the seat position is the most recommended (all genders!) as it allows your sphincters muscles to relax.

5/ Get up before sunrise

If you wake up after sunrise then you are more likely to blame yourself and then notice a energy drop associated with a lack of strength. Why not be one step ahead!

6/ Don’t reset your alarm clock

If you are struggling to get up, resetting your alarm clock is not going to help!  Do you think you are giving yourself a couple of extra minutes?  This is not the case as your brain will restart in a light sleep phase, which will end up disrupting your internal clock.
