Celebrities are not immortal, although we always seem to be shocked by their deaths. Because between their lives in the limelight and their omnipresence in the media, it can be hard to believe that they have ceased to exist. And even if they are living almost in a parallel universe, they can also meet their end, just like us mere mortals. Let’s take this opportunity to pay a tribute to them, and to celebrate their lives and their true value. Here are some last photographs ever taken of celebrities no long before they died.
1/ Steve Jobs (1955-2011)
One of the last photos of Steve Jobs taken before he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, when he died at home on the 5th October 2011.
2/ Robin Williams (1951-2014)
This photo of Robin Williams, taken with his monkey Crystal, was posted on his Instagram account on the day of his birthday, 20 days before he died by suicide at the age of 63.
3/ Heath Ledger (1979-2008)
This film photo was the last to be taken of the actor, during his final film “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”. This was him in his last role, a few days before he was found dead in his New York apartment, having died from an accidental overdose.
4/ Lady Diana (1961-1997)
On the 31st August 1997, Princess Diana was the victim of a fatal road accident, her driver colliding with a pillar in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris. This impressive photo was the last to be taken by the paparazzi, who were chasing the vehicle to try and get a photo of the princess and her lover.
5/ Bob Marley (1945-1981)
This photo of the Reggae singer was taken in Munich, a few months before he died from skin cancer on the 11th May 1981. In the photo, he weighed only 35 kilos.
6/ John Lennon (1940-1980)
The man who assassinated the Beatles singer, Mark David Chapman, is present in the right corner of this photo, asking for an autograph. Four hours later, Champan killed Lennon with 5 bullets to the back.
