North Korea is known for being the most secretive country on the planet. Kim Jong-un rules his people with a tight whip of propaganda and repression. Yet, over the years, despite a fierce dictatorship, tongues have loosened. As a result, we are slowly getting to know little by little, more about this country and many laws surprise us. Here are the 15 activities which are forbidden in North Korea.

 

1. Fold or crumple a newspaper

If ever you find yourself in North Korea and are reading a newspaper where there is a photograph of Kim Jong-un don’t scrunch it up or worse fold it! This is considered an enormous crime and viewed as not showing respect for the leader. A gesture that can mean an order of death!

2. Wear jeans

Blue jeans are forbidden in North Korea, simply because they are considered a symbol of America. Maybe someone needs to pluck up the courage to tell Kim Jong-un that jeans are made mainly in China and not America.

3. Be called Kim

How can you be a feared and respected dictator if poor a peasant is also called the same name as you? Which is why in 2011, just before Kim Jong-un became leader, the name Kim was forbidden and anyone already called Kim were forced to change name.
