Sleep is sacred! Like everyone in the world is sure to have observed, not having enough sleep can literally transform you. And not in the good sense of the word…. Eye strain, irritation or incessant exhaustion, not to mention your tired body that is more susceptible to infections -lack of sleep is not the way to a healthy life. But we also know how difficult it can be to fall asleep, or to avoid waking up in the course of the night. Here is some advice from some savvy sleep experts.
1/ Set an alarm to go to bed
Set an alarm at a fixed time on your phone so as not to miss your bed time! This will get you into a good routine, and prevent you from staying up later than you had intended.
2/ Wear socks
Simple but effective: bed socks! A study in 1999 concluded that people with cold extremities took longer to fall asleep. In terms of glamour, on the other hand, we may need to think again….
3/ Keep your room silent
There is nothing more annoying that the tick-tock of a clock, right? Don’t let anything go unsilenced.
4/ Don’t let your pets sleep in your bedroom
Between incessant movement and potential allergies, your beloved pets can make sleeping difficult, even if you don’t realise it. Rex can content himself with his cosy bed in the sitting room!
5/ Limit your naps to 30 minutes
And no more!
6/ Try aromatherapy
You can try smelling essential oils that promote sleep to help you to fall asleep at night. Lavender, for example, is very well known for promoting sleep: smelling it before bed time leads to a deeper sleep and fights against insomnia.
