The city of the future has always fueled science fiction films such as Minority Report or the Fifth Element. From New York to Tokyo or Paris to Rio the architectural project proposals of the future are emerging with the aim of developing more functional, ecological projects and sustainable urbanization.
So what will our cities look like in 2050? Here is selection of 11 architectural proposals of the future.
1/ Paris, France
A greener Paris, is the concept by the Belgium architect Vincent Callebaut, who is offering Parisians the chance to breath fresher air and reconnect with nature. A green train station of Gare de Nord, a greener tower of Montparnasse and bio-climatic mountains incorporating renewable energies on the roofs. Parisians will awaken in a completely different mood!

2/ New-York, U.S.A
A 600 meter high buiding in the shape of a glass dragonfly to be built in the port of the East River on the south of Roosevelt island. Another futuristic proposal by the architect Vincent Callebaut, which will house farm animals, orchards, rice fields and meadows where cows can graze. Animals that can’t suffer from vertigo.
Another panorama for the big apple, which could be from a science fiction movie, with foldable windfarms, trams and climatic bunkers, vegetalized farms… everything is designed to make the environment more breathable and durable.
3/ London, England
Looking like a nature park in the capital with echo friendly islands floating on the river Thames, vertical farms buildings that look like lotus flowers a symbol of peace and serenity. London will become a city of zen. This futuristic vision is the work of architects John Robertson Architects and Arup’s.
