6/ A suicide site house
This is the pretty house were the young American poet Conrad Aiken grew up. It is also the place where his parents died. His father who was known for his violent behaviour apparently shot the poet’s mother and then committed suicide. You could find a house with more charm than this. Ever since this beautiful house has stayed empty which is not really surprising.
7/ A beautiful but haunted mansion
This impressive wooden house was made by the first owner himself and dedicated to his wife who he was passionately in love with. A couple of centuries later it was made into a top class bed and breakfast for tourists. However it’s popularity didn’t last long when some clients claimed to have seen female ghosts appearing in several of the rooms. This haunted house is currently on the market but the there hasn’t been many people interested. Rumours seem to have been right about this beautiful coloured house. Despite it’s beautiful sea view no one wants to buy it!
8/ Mr Kreischer’s mansion
This magnificent Victorian mansion just outside of New York had a replica which was just a stone’s throw away. However it was destroyed during the Great Depression. Generally beautiful houses like this don’t stay long on the market however the first house’s history might explain why people are less inclined to buy. It is said to be one of the most haunted places in the city. Firstly, Kreischer’s son committed suicide (which does not help). Then, there were rumors of voices, appearances and other paranormal phenomena took hold of them … it sounds like you should not dilly dally and hurry away from the place!
9/ Haunted Victorian House
This magnificent house has seen a number of tragic events under it’s roof which is confirmed, some say, by a number of strange paranormal activities seen in the house over the years. In fact it has been the site of several television programmes about this subject. Despite this the house has a lot to offer. It’s massive with 10 bedrooms and a living space of 2000 m². However some people say that they have seen all sorts of ghosts which is why this house tops the haunted house list. You wouldn’t want to be here for Halloween.
10/ House in the spotlight
This house, which is not quite as grand as the others on this list, has a particularly disturbing history. It was the site of several high-profile murders a few years ago. As it was often in the media, we bet images in the estate agencies won’t help to sell this house… In any case, it is not for sale as it is still the property of the children of one of the victims. Creepy.
